Stone Mountain Railroad Station



The Stone Mountain Railroad Station, located at the base of the mountain, houses a ticket kiosk, cafeteria, and gift shop.

The project was put out to three invited general contractors for bidding. Swofford was awarded the contract because we were the only one to agree to compress, an already tight schedule, by two months. Swofford performed as promised and delivered the building two months earlier than originally scheduled. This allowed the owner to get this huge revenue producer back into service at the earliest possible date.

The steel frame with steel bow roof trusses has an arched standing seam metal roof and wood framed chlerestory. The decorative brick veneer was recognized by the National Masonry Association for its excellence.
