Build Georgia Awards
For more than 20 years, the Georgia Brand, Associated General Contractors has recognized general contractors and their project teams for excellence in the construction industry by awarding Build Georgia Awards. In March 2009, Swofford Construction, Inc. submitted two completed projects, Additions and Renovations to the Lockheed Martin Aero Center and Additions and Renovations to John Thorton Chevrolet. At the AGC Annual Convention in June 2009, both projects received a First Place Award based on innovative construction techniques, sustainable green construction practices, exceptional project safety and performance and complete dedication to customer service and scheduling.

Ken to Treasurer
Georgia Branch, AGC, one of 95 Chapters affiliated nationwide with The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), announces the election of metro Atlanta native E. Kenneth Swofford as treasurer on the Chapter’s 2009-2010 Board of Directors.

Swofford, of Douglas County, is president of Swofford Construction, Inc., a full-service commercial contractor who for the past 30 years has specialized in building churches, schools and industrial facilities. Swofford Construction has been an active member of AGC since 1982.

Swofford’s has served in numerous leadership roles with Georgia Branch, AGC over the years including previous terms on the Chapter’s Board. He serves on the Board of Directors of CompTrust AGC MCIC, the chapter’s workers’ compensation program. Swofford is also a supporter of several youth sports programs, the Boys & Girls Club, and Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“I look forward to serving Georgia Branch, AGC as its newest officer,” says Swofford. “I have always felt the need to give back, and having the opportunity to do this with AGC is quite an honor for me.”

kevinleed Kevin Davis Passes LEED Exam
Kevin Davis, one of our project managers, has passed the LEED exam and is now qualified as a LEED Accredited Professional for New Construction.

To become a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), it is necessary to study and to become completely familiar with the “LEED Reference Guide” and to pass a comprehensive test on the material in the Guide. Congratulations Kevin!

Congratulations Kelly Johnson
Swofford Construction, Inc. is excited to announce that Kelly Johnson has been asked to serve on the counsel for the Young Leaders Program, AGC, Georgia Branch. It is a three year term that will involve her participation in community service projects, fundraisers and educational meetings regarding the construction industry.
